Biological Activity
A-769662 is a potent, reversible AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator with an EC50 of 0.8 μM. It selectively activates β1 subunit-containing AMPK heterotrimers, promoting downstream phosphorylation of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and inhibiting fatty acid synthesis with an IC50 of 3.2 μM. Activation of this pathway modulates cellular lipid metabolism, leading to reduced plasma glucose and triglyceride levels in vivo. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).

Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer longer shelf life compared to stock solutions.
