Biological Activity

Lomibuvir (VX-222) is a potent and selective non-nucleoside inhibitor targeting the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. By binding to the allosteric site of the NS5B enzyme, Lomibuvir blocks viral RNA synthesis and suppresses HCV replication cascades. Inhibition of this essential viral polymerase disrupts viral genome replication, leading to reduced viral RNA production in hepatitis C infection models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
