Raltegravir is a potent HIV-1 integrase strand transfer inhibitor displaying over 1000-fold selectivity over related enzymes, including HCV polymerase and human DNA polymerases α, β, and γ. By targeting the viral integrase active site, it selectively inhibits the strand transfer step required for integration of viral DNA into host genomic DNA. This blockade prevents the insertion of viral genetic material, thereby suppressing HIV-1 replication and viral propagation. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
