Phloretin is a natural dihydrochalcone polyphenol that acts as an inhibitor of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1). By blocking GLUT1-mediated glucose transport, phloretin impairs cellular glucose uptake and disrupts glycolytic flux. This inhibition suppresses downstream cell proliferation and triggers apoptosis in cancer cell models. Furthermore, phloretin modulates signaling cascades, including the NF-kB and STAT3 pathways, to attenuate inflammatory responses and inhibit tumor growth. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
