Perifosine is an oral alkylphospholipid that acts as an Akt inhibitor by targeting the pleckstrin homology domain of Akt. By interacting with cellular membranes, perifosine modulates membrane permeability, lipid composition, and phospholipid metabolism. These membrane-targeted effects block downstream mitogenic signal transduction and inhibit anti-apoptotic MAPK signaling while modulating pro-apoptotic SAPK/JNK pathways, ultimately promoting cell differentiation, antiproliferative activity, and apoptosis in cancer cells.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
