Ondansetron HCl is a potent and selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It competitively blocks 5-HT3 ion channel receptors, preventing serotonin-mediated membrane depolarization and downstream signal transduction. By inhibiting 5-HT3 receptor activation on peripheral vagal afferent nerves and in central emetic control centers, ondansetron suppresses reflex signaling pathways without displaying activity at dopamine or muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
