Malotilate is a hepatoprotective compound that selectively acts as an inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase to improve liver protein metabolism. It significantly reduces collagen accumulation and extracellular matrix deposition in damaged hepatic tissue. By suppressing 5-lipoxygenase activity and inflammatory signaling cascades, malotilate inhibits leukotriene biosynthesis, stimulates nucleic acid and protein synthesis in hepatocytes, and prevents the progression of liver fibrosis.
