Biological Activity

Isoprenaline (Isoproterenol) HCl is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor agonist targeting beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors. Upon receptor binding, it activates the Gs protein-coupled signaling pathway, stimulating adenylate cyclase to elevate intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels. This downstream activation of protein kinase A (PKA) enhances cardiac chronotropic and inotropic functions, while simultaneously promoting smooth muscle relaxation in bronchial airways. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
