Biological Activity
Iloperidone is an atypical antipsychotic compound that acts as a potent antagonist of dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, while also targeting dopamine D3 and alpha1-adrenergic receptors. By blocking these neurotransmitter receptors, iloperidone modulates downstream G-protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways and neurotransmitter-mediated signaling cascades. Consequently, this multi-receptor antagonism alters intracellular second messenger dynamics and neural circuit excitability to suppress hyperdopaminergic phenotypes. [1]
