Biological Activity

Fluocinonide is a potent glucocorticoid steroid that acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to mediate anti-inflammatory responses. Upon binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, it promotes receptor nuclear translocation and modulates gene transcription, leading to the inhibition of pro-inflammatory signaling pathways such as NF-κB and AP-1. This transrepression suppresses the production of inflammatory cytokines, attenuating redness, itching, and tissue inflammation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
