Elvitegravir is an HIV integrase inhibitor active against HIV-1 IIIB (IC50 0.7 nM), HIV-2 EHO (IC50 2.8 nM), and HIV-2 ROD (IC50 1.4 nM) in cell-free assays. It blocks the integration of proviral DNA into the host genome, thereby suppressing viral replication. Furthermore, elvitegravir exhibits broad-spectrum antiviral activity against murine leukemia virus (EC50 5.8 nM) and simian immunodeficiency virus (EC50 0.5 nM). [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
