Curcumol is a guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid monomer with broad antitumor activities. It induces the rapid translocation of Bax from the cytosol into the mitochondria, leading to a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential. Downstream, Curcumol drives cell death predominantly through a caspase-independent mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, suppressing cancer cell growth and survival across various cell models. [1]
