Clotrimazole is a synthetic, broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent that targets ergosterol biosynthesis. By inhibiting cytochrome P450-dependent sterol 14α-demethylase, it disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, a primary structural component of the fungal cell membrane. This depletion alters cell membrane permeability, triggering the leakage of essential intracellular metabolites and ions, which ultimately results in membrane damage and fungal cell lysis. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
