Acitretin is a second-generation retinoid that functions as a retinoic acid receptor (RAR) agonist. Upon binding to nuclear RARs, acitretin activates retinoid-responsive transcription pathways to modulate cellular gene expression. Downstream, this activation suppresses keratinocyte hyperproliferation, promotes epidermal cell differentiation and normal keratinization, and decreases pro-inflammatory cytokine production, thereby inhibiting inflammatory and proliferative cell signaling responses. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
