6-Diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine (DON) is a glutamine antagonist and glutaminase inhibitor originally isolated from Streptomyces. By targeting glutamine-utilizing enzymes and disrupting glutamine metabolic pathways, DON suppresses downstream nucleotide biosynthesis, cellular energy production, and cell proliferation. Furthermore, this compound exhibits broad biological activities, including antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer effects, serving as a key tool for investigating cancer metabolism.[1]
