4-PBA (4-Phenylbutyric acid) is a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor and chemical chaperone that acts as a suppressor of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. By modulating ER stress signaling and autophagy pathways, 4-PBA attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses and suppresses downstream NF-κB activation. These actions lead to decreased pro-inflammatory cytokine production, protected cell viability, and reduced tissue injury in various inflammatory disease models. [1]
