Biological Activity

2'-Deoxyuridine is a naturally occurring pyrimidine deoxyribonucleoside involved in pyrimidine metabolism and nucleic acid biosynthesis. As a precursor to deoxyuridine monophosphate, it plays a key role in cellular DNA synthesis, base excision repair pathways, and the incorporation of uracil residues into genomic DNA. Halogenated derivatives of 2'-deoxyuridine are widely utilized to study DNA replication dynamics, cell proliferation, and DNA degradation mechanisms. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
