Biological Activity
2-Chloroacetamide is a synthetic biocide and chloroacetamide herbicide that acts as an inhibitor of very-long-chain fatty acid elongase. By targeting very-long-chain fatty acid elongase and related condensing enzymes, it suppresses very-long-chain fatty acid biosynthesis. This inhibition disrupts lipid metabolic pathways, impairing cell membrane structure and preventing normal shoot elongation and seedling development in susceptible plant species. [1]
