Biological Activity

1-Azakenpaullone is a potent and selective inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) with an IC50 of, displaying over 100-fold selectivity against CDK1/cyclin B and CDK5/p25. By inhibiting GSK-3β, this compound prevents β-catenin phosphorylation, thereby activating downstream Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. Consequently, 1-Azakenpaullone promotes cardiomyocyte differentiation, regulates cellular survival, and supports stem cell self-renewal. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
