Biological Activity
Raleukin (Anakinra) is a recombinant human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist that competitively binds to the interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R). By blocking IL-1 signaling, it suppresses downstream activation of pathways such as NF-kB and MAPK, resulting in decreased expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and cellular inflammatory responses. It is used in research to investigate IL-1 blockade in inflammation, tumor growth, islet transplantation, and cardiac injury models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
