Zucapsaicin is a cis-isomer of capsaicin that acts as a transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) agonist and modulator. Activation of TRPV1 by zucapsaicin induces localized calcium influx into nociceptive sensory neurons, triggering the initial release and subsequent depletion of neurotransmitters such as substance P. This sustained channel activation leads to functional desensitization of TRPV1-expressing nociceptors, thereby suppressing downstream pain signal transmission along peripheral neural pathways. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
