Biological Activity

ZM 323881 HCl is a potent and selective vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 inhibitor targeting VEGFR2 (IC50 < 2 nM). It displays marked selectivity over related receptor tyrosine kinases, including VEGFR1, PDGFRβ, FGFR1, EGFR, and ErbB2. By blocking VEGFR2 activation and downstream intracellular signaling, ZM 323881 HCl suppresses VEGF-stimulated endothelial cell proliferation and capillary-like tubule formation, thereby attenuating angiogenesis.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
