YU238259 is a selective inhibitor of homology-dependent DNA repair (HDR) that does not inhibit non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ). By specifically blocking the HDR pathway without impairing NHEJ mechanisms, YU238259 compromises double-strand break repair capacity in DNA repair-deficient cells. This pathway-specific inhibition leads to increased genomic instability, induction of synthetic lethality, and significant suppression of cellular proliferation in susceptible cancer cell lines. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
