Ordering Information

Biological Activity

XE991 dihydrochloride is a potent Kv7 (KCNQ) channel blocker that selectively inhibits Kv7.1, Kv7.2, heteromeric Kv7.2/Kv7.3, and native M-current. Blockade of these voltage-gated potassium channels suppresses hyperpolarizing neuronal M-currents, leading to cell membrane depolarization, increased neuronal excitability, and enhanced neurotransmitter release across neuronal pathways. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
