Xanomeline (LY-246708) is a selective agonist of muscarinic type 1 (M1) and muscarinic type 4 (M4) receptors. Activation of these GPCR targets enhances central neuronal excitability and modulates cholinergic neurotransmission pathways. Consequently, Xanomeline suppresses hyperdopaminergic signaling and inhibits specific behavioral responses induced by D-amphetamine and (-)-apomorphine in preclinical models, demonstrating potent central nervous system activity.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
