Biological Activity

WS6 is a small-molecule inducer of pancreatic β-cell proliferation that modulates Erb3 binding protein-1 (EBP1) and the IκB kinase (IKK) signaling pathway. By binding to EBP1 and altering downstream IKK pathway activity, WS6 promotes the entry of primary mouse and human β-cells into the cell cycle. This targeted pathway modulation leads to enhanced β-cell regeneration without impairing glucose-stimulated insulin secretion or cellular function.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
