WQ 1 is a selective antagonist of σ1 receptor (pKi 10.85), σ2 receptor (pKi 6.53), and dopamine transporter (DAT, pKi 5.80), displaying a σ1/σ2 selectivity ratio of 20893. By targeting σ1 receptors, WQ 1 modulates neurochemical signaling pathways to produce central downstream effects, selectively attenuating binge eating behavior in animal models without inducing a general inhibition of food intake. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
