Wilforlide A is a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid compound isolated from Tripterygium wilfordii that exhibits anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive activities. It inhibits the activation of the NF-kB and MAPK signaling pathways, leading to down-regulated expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. Consequently, Wilforlide A suppresses cellular proliferation and inflammatory responses in rheumatoid arthritis models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
