W-7 hydrochloride is a cell-permeable calmodulin antagonist that inhibits calcium- and calmodulin-dependent enzyme activities, including myosin light chain kinase and phosphodiesterase. By binding to calmodulin and disrupting calmodulin-mediated signaling pathways, W-7 hydrochloride suppresses cellular proliferation and arrests cell cycle progression across various cell types. Additionally, calmodulin inhibition by W-7 impairs intracellular calcium signaling events crucial for cell growth and survival. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
