Biological Activity

VX-150 is an orally bioavailable prodrug that converts into an active moiety acting as a selective inhibitor of voltage-gated sodium channel NaV1.8. Selective inhibition of NaV1.8 blocks action potential firing in peripheral nociceptive sensory neurons, suppressing nociceptive signal propagation along pain pathways. This targeted inhibition diminishes neuronal excitability and attenuates pain processing without disrupting other sodium channel subtypes. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
