Biological Activity

VG-3927 is a potent, selective, and brain-penetrant small-molecule agonist targeting triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2). Activation of TREM2 enhances microglial survival, phagocytosis, and anti-inflammatory microglial signaling to promote neuroprotective phenotypes. This pathway facilitates the clearance of cellular debris and pathogenic protein aggregates, supporting microglial homeostasis in neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
