VB124 is a potent and selective monocarboxylate transporter 4 (MCT4) inhibitor. By targeting MCT4, it specifically inhibits lactate efflux and import in cells expressing MCT4, such as MDA-MB-231 cells, thereby disrupting intracellular lactate homeostasis and glycolytic flux. Downstream, blockade of MCT4-mediated transport alters cellular energy metabolism and attenuates pathological remodeling, serving as a valuable tool for researching cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure.
