Biological Activity

UTL-5g is a small-molecule TNF-α inhibitor that functions as an effective chemoprotective agent against drug-induced organ toxicities. By suppressing TNF-α-mediated inflammatory signaling pathways and apoptotic cascades, UTL-5g reduces downstream cellular damage. In preclinical models, UTL-5g significantly lowers hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and myelotoxicity induced by cisplatin, mitigating severe adverse side effects without compromising therapeutic efficacy.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
