Biological Activity

UNC-926 is a chemical probe and inhibitor targeting the malignant brain tumor (MBT) domain of L3MBTL1 (Kd 3.9 μM). By selectively occupying the methyl-lysine binding pocket within the MBT repeats, UNC-926 disrupts the interaction between L3MBTL1 and mono- or dimethylated histone lysine residues. This inhibition impairs L3MBTL1-mediated chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression, providing a valuable tool for investigating epigenetic regulation and chromatin biology. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
