Ordering Information

Biological Activity

UMI-77 is a selective inhibitor of Mcl-1 (Ki 490 nM) with selectivity over other Bcl-2 family protein members. By binding to Mcl-1, it disrupts the interaction between Mcl-1 and pro-apoptotic BH3-only proteins as well as Bax and Bak. This inhibition releases Bax and Bak to promote mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, triggering cytochrome c release, caspase activation, and apoptosis in cancer cells, particularly pancreatic carcinoma cells. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
