Biological Activity

UCPH-101 is a selective inhibitor of excitatory amino acid transporter subtype 1 (EAAT1) with an IC50 of 0.66 μM. By blocking EAAT1-mediated glutamate transport, UCPH-101 disrupts extracellular glutamate clearance and modulates excitatory neurotransmission. This small molecule serves as a valuable tool for investigating the physiological roles of subtype-specific glutamate transporters in central nervous system function and neurotoxicity. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
