Biological Activity

UCL-TRO-1938 is a potent allosteric activator of phosphoinositide 3-kinase alpha (PI3Kα). It enhances PI3Kα catalytic activity and activates downstream AKT/mTOR signaling to stimulate cellular responses including cell proliferation and neurite outgrowth. Through transient activation of the PI3K pathway, UCL-TRO-1938 protects tissues from ischemia-reperfusion injury to provide cardioprotection and promotes nerve regeneration following peripheral injury. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
