Tyloxapol (Triton WR1339) is a nonionic alkyl aryl polyether alcohol surfactant that inhibits plasma lipolytic activity and lipoprotein lipase. By blocking the breakdown of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, Tyloxapol disrupts lipid clearance, leading to elevated serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Additionally, Tyloxapol suppresses NF-kB signaling and reduces proinflammatory cytokine production, supporting its utility in establishing animal models of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis. [1]
