Biological Activity

Trigonelline is a natural plant alkaloid and major bioactive constituent of coffee and fenugreek that acts as an inhibitor of FcεRI-mediated intracellular signaling pathways. It suppresses the phosphorylation of key signaling proteins including PLCγ1, PI3K, and Akt, while also inhibiting microtubule formation in RBL-2H3 cells. Through these molecular actions, trigonelline demonstrates potent anti-degranulation, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and neuroprotective activities. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
