Biological Activity
Traumatic acid (trans-2-dodecenedioic acid) is a naturally occurring plant hormone and potent wound-healing agent that acts as an intermediate in prostaglandin synthesis. It induces plant cell division at injury sites to promote rapid tissue repair and wound closure. Additionally, traumatic acid modulates oxidative stress responses and cellular metabolic pathways, driving cell proliferation and structural protein biosynthesis during tissue regeneration. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
