Toltrazuril is an antiprotozoal triazinone agent with broad-spectrum activity against intracellular Coccidia parasites. It impairs parasitic mitochondrial respiratory chain enzymatic activities and disrupts schizogony and gametogony developmental stages. This pharmacological inhibition causes ultrastructural damage including cellular swelling of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi complex, ultimately disrupting pyrimidine synthesis, nuclear division, and intracellular parasite survival.
