Tilfrinib is a potent and selective inhibitor of non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase Brk/PTK6. By targeting PTK6 signaling, it disrupts oncogenic downstream pathways that regulate cell proliferation, survival, and oncogenic transformation. Consequently, Tilfrinib exhibits marked anti-proliferative activity against breast cancer cell lines, including MCF7, HS-578T, and BT-549, making it a valuable small-molecule tool for dissecting PTK6-mediated oncogenesis. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
