Temocapril HCl (CS-622) is a long-acting, orally active prodrug that functions as an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Upon metabolic conversion to its active diacid metabolite temocaprilat, it targets ACE within the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) to prevent the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. This inhibition suppresses downstream RAAS signaling, leading to reduced systemic vascular resistance and attenuated blood pressure elevation.
