Biological Activity

Tedizolid phosphate is an oxazolidinone-class prodrug that is converted into its active metabolite, tedizolid. Tedizolid acts as a potent protein synthesis inhibitor by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. This binding disrupts the formation of the 70S initiation complex, thereby suppressing bacterial protein translation. Consequently, this action inhibits bacterial growth and demonstrates antibacterial activity against Gram-positive pathogens. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
