Biological Activity

Tectorigenin is a natural isoflavone that acts as a plant-derived bioactive compound with modulating activity on estrogen receptors and inflammatory signaling cascades. It suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses by inhibiting the NF-kB and MAPK pathways, leading to down-regulation of pro-inflammatory mediators such as inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2. Additionally, tectorigenin exhibits antitumor activity by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting cell proliferation in various cancer cell models.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
