Taurocholic acid is a taurine-conjugated bile acid that modulates signaling pathways involved in hepatic pathology and inflammation. It stimulates hepatic stellate cell activation via TLR4 upregulation and engages sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2 (S1PR2) to activate downstream ERK1/2 and AKT pathways. Furthermore, taurocholic acid exhibits anti-inflammatory effects in macrophages, gingival fibroblasts, and oral squamous carcinoma cells in vitro.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
