Biological Activity

Swertisin is a C-glucosylflavone that functions as an antagonist of the adenosine A1 receptor and an inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2). Antagonism of adenosine A1 receptors promotes PKA and CREB signaling to mitigate cognitive impairment. Additionally, swertisin inhibits SGLT2 to enhance glucose homeostasis and suppresses hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication by reducing levels of HBsAg, HBeAg, and viral DNA. [1][2][3]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
