Biological Activity

Suplatast tosylate is a Th2 cytokine inhibitor that selectively suppresses interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-5 (IL-5) synthesis with an IC50 greater than. By inhibiting Th2-mediated cytokine production without directly impacting B cell function, this agent decreases IgE synthesis, suppresses local eosinophil accumulation, and reduces infiltration of CD4+ T cells into the airways, ultimately alleviating allergen-induced airway hyperresponsiveness. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
