Sulfamethoxypyridazine is a long-acting sulfonamide antibacterial agent that acts as a target-specific inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS). By competing with p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) for binding to DHPS, it blocks the de novo biosynthesis of folic acid in susceptible microorganisms. This inhibition disrupts downstream nucleotide synthesis and essential metabolic pathways, leading to suppressed bacterial growth. It is also applied in treating Dermatitis herpetiformis. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
