Biological Activity

SRT2183 is a small-molecule activator targeting sirtuin 1 (SIRT1). By stimulating SIRT1 deacetylase activity, SRT2183 promotes the deacetylation of target proteins and modulates key cellular pathways involved in oxidative stress, energy metabolism, and cell survival. Consequently, activation of SIRT1 by SRT2183 enhances mitochondrial biogenesis, improves metabolic homeostasis, and induces growth inhibition and apoptosis in select cancer cell lines. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
